The Grand Mosque Dubai is among one of the largest mosques
(with a capacity to accommodate up to 1200 faithful) in the United Arab
Emirates. Originally built in traditional Islamic architectural style
and opened in 1900 AD as a kuttab (Koranic school) where children learn
to recite the Koran from memory, the Great Mosque in Dubai was rebuilt
(maintaining the original style of the Great Mosque) in 1998 and now
enjoys a 70-metre (231ft)-high minaret the highest minaret of Dubai.
Located on the Bur Dubai side of the creek near the rule’s Court, the Great Mosque is composed of 45 small domes over 9 large stained glass panels offering, sand colored walls and wooden shutters, who had a distinguished history and important place of worship. Non-Muslims are not allowed to enter the mosque, but they can go
and take some photos of the mosque and its exceptionally beautiful
minaret.
